Mammals and Rodents of Elk Island National Park
& the Blackfoot area.
This was a great day out seeing what Canada really has to offer in the great outdoors. There was an abundance of wildlife indicating a healthy local ecosystem.
All the shots below were taken over a five hour period on a single day on a guided trip by Wayne Millar of 'Birds and Back Country'.

Bigger than a Bobcat and smaller than a Mountain Lion is one description of the Lynx, explained to me.

This Lynx is being kept in captivity as one of a breeding pair. Both look comfortable and they have produced several offspring.

A White Tail Deer showing it is alerted by having it's tail up.

The Beaver can be seen feeding on some vegetation in the top photo.
Beaver diving under the water with a decent splash.
The Duck doesn't look too perturbed; could say 'like water of a ducks back'.

A couple more shots of Mr Beaver.
In Canada, a 200mm lens with a 1.4X teleconverter was also used for many of the images.
A 300mm prime lens is the minimum size I would recommend for most wildlife photography, as the animals are often hard to get close to, or too dangerous to approach.

The Beavers Home.
No joking, I thought this was a man made pile of rubbish, Doh!

My only image of the wild Bison.
Didn't want to get too close so hope viewers can see an artistic side to this image.
